Male Infertility Causes
What are the common causes of male infertility?
There are many factors that may lead to male infertility. One of the causes of male infertility is low sperm count. A man with low sperm count (less than 20 million/ml of semen) is considered to be at risk of being infertile. There are usually no visible symptoms for this problem and these men are often surprise to discover that they have reproduction problems.
Another type of abnormal sperm is sperm with low mobility. Less mobile or inactive sperms cannot travel fast enough to reach the egg. If the sperm count or motility is extremely low, we usually assume this is the cause of the fertility issue. It is important to point out that low sperm might not be the only fertility issue for the couple. There may also be some female fertility problems. We know for a fact that men with low sperm counts can sometimes have children and some healthy men with normal sperm counts can be infertile.
The second most common cause of male infertility is failure to ejaculate. This is cause by blockages in the tubes resulting in a complete lack of sperm in the ejaculated semen. This can affect male infertility and affects about three in every 20 infertile men, including men with the problem of having an earlier vasectomy.
Heat is another factor that can reduce sperm production. So do keep the temperature down!
